Auditory-Cognitive Synesthesia

I enjoy listening to music. Whether it be on the radio, my Spotify, or a nearby concert, music is an  art form that pleases me. It stimulates the mind like nothing else can. In what I call Auditory-Cognitive Synesthesia, the body hears a certain sound or song and immediately the brain shifts its thoughts to another object or body. This phenomena takes place to people everywhere, and just as my esteemed colleagues have discussed in their previous posts it happens to them. I too could point out multiple examples in my own personal life, and I will later in this post. Women, I must say, are quite the wonder. I am constantly baffled and in awe of the enigma of the female species. Such beauty and mystery abounds in women. For centuries, the brightest minds have fought vigorously to unravel and understand women. It cannot be done. It would be like trying to absorb all of the oceans into one sponge, or trying to map the entire universe on a sheet of notebook paper. But before I get any further off topic I must complete my assignment.

The esteemed panel of leadership here at the Queso Club have declared this session's topic as "Songs That Remind Us of Women." I like this topic. For one, it is thought provoking and gives our viewers an inside look at something personal about each of our esteemed members. And secondly, I came up with it. That being said, I present my:

Top Five Songs That Remind Me of Women

NUMBER FIVE: "Brown Eyed Girl" -Van Morrison

Such an awesome song. With its upbeat tempo and light-heated lyrics, "Brown Eyed Girl" is such a good song for when I'm feeling low or just need something I can smile about. Which is exactly why this song reminds me of ***** *****. Whenever I think of ***** ***** I always smile and feel good on the inside. She, meaning ***** *****, always makes me feel childish and youthful. She makes me feel like I can act like a kid and do stupid stuff without regret. I feel safe and I feel like can always be totally honest with her. She always brings out the brighter side of myself.

NUMBER FOUR: "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" -Elton John

"Can You Feel the Love Tonight" is such an emotional piece of music, and although I am not a huge Elton John fan, I must appreciate a masterpiece such as this when I hear it. In the same sense, when I see such an amazing masterpiece such as ****** ******, I can't help but be awestruck. This song makes speaks of "feeling love," and when I am with ****** ******, I feel love. It is that simple. There is a certain magic about this song. And there is a certain magic about ****** ****** that I can't explain on my own. Elton John sings. "it's enough to make kings and vagabonds leave their fairy tales." He speaks of a force so magical that it brings characters out of fairy tales and into reality. The force of course is love, and I am no king (some might argue the vagabond bit), but the love I feel for ****** ****** is enough to tear me from reality and throw me into a what feels like a fairly tale.

NUMBER THREE: "Ragdoll" -Aerosmith

Ah, this song is just crazy. It embodies my foolish younger passions. That being said, this song reminds me of none other than Ragdoll ***** *****. Not much I can say about this girl. The song "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba reminds me of her too (for reasons I am not proud of). Anyway, she is woman. She is confusing. Excuse my being redundant, please.

NUMBER TWO: "Wonderful Tonight" -Eric Clapton

"Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton was released in 1977 on the album titled "Slowhand." It is a beautiful melodic love song that warms my heart every time I hear it. It makes me think of a wonderful lass who is amazingly beautiful on the inside and the outside. ******* ******** is that lass. The song speaks of a woman who possesses immense beauty, and whose pure awesomeness makes everyone around her just a little bit more awesome. Clapton sings about how just by being with her, he feels wonderful. The same applies to me personally. When I am with ******* ********, I feel wonderful. Even when I simply here this song on the radio I feel wonderful. Because I think of how wonderful she is, and how lucky I am to have her in my life.

NUMBER ONE: "Matrimony" -Gilbert O'Sullivan

"Matrimony" is a great song written by the ingenious Gilbert O'Sullivan' and it makes me think of the most beautiful ***** ****. This song reminds me of her for many reasons. The biggest one of them being the fact that I believe that she and I should get married and have some epic kids. I mean, these kids would absolutely destroy at basketball. They would be the perfect children. ***** **** and I's genes are just perfect for each other. We are perfect for each other.

That being said, that is all I have to say on the matter.

From his attic in Searcy, Arkansas this is SweetnLowe signing off. Goodnight and Godspeed.

The Crown of Creation

Women

Women are the crown of God's good creation. They are beautiful in every way, although they may be tainted by the darkness of sin. Nevertheless, they are meant to be admired, cherished, and nurtured in a way that brings glory to God. That is not to say that women are incapable of doing things for themselves. What I would like to do is share a few songs in dedication to some wonderful women in my life, women who inspire me and encourage me. These are songs that remind me of them.

5. Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine
  • This song reminds me of a young lady whom I shall here call 'Pluto Gone'. She has beautiful blue eyes and lovely golden strands billowing from her scalp. Enough Said.
4. Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl
  • This song reminds me of another wonderful feminine individual. I shall call her 'Serene Dawn'. (Yes, I know these special names are utterly ridiculous.) She has luscious brown eyes and the most precious personality. Cheers to her!
3. Gordon Lightfoot - Beautiful

  • This song- as does the rest that are to follow- reminds me of 'Serene Dawn'. I heard this song a few years ago, and I felt that it perfectly expresses how I feel toward this young lady. It is a great love song, and the video is beautiful. Enough said.
2. Bleach Celebrate - Celebrate
  • This song is from a lesser-known Christian group, and, while it was probably written about Jesus, I listen to it and think about how glad I am to know 'Serene Dawn.' It is a blessing to know so thoroughly lovely an individual.
1. Stryper - Lady
  • YES! We have arrived at one of my favorite love songs of all time. Again, this group is a bit lesser known, but they are certainly righteous. I have loved this song for years, and I am captivated by the blissful thought of 'Serene Dawn' upon every hearing. What a lady!
So, there is my top five. However, I wish to make a few honorable mentions: "Stryper - My Love I'll Always Show", "The W's - Flower Tattoo", "Gilbert O'Sullivan - At the Very Mention of Your Name", and "Led Zeppelin - Bron-Y-Aur Stomp".
I pray that we will all learn to better love our fellow humans, especially the females, for they are grossly abused, objectified, and unappreciated quite often in our world. It is a shame for which I might cry. Let us love them as Christ loves His Church. Let us ask of God guidance, that He may teach us patience, understanding, and genuine, unfailing, selfless love. You get the gist.
And, Ladies, you are beautiful. Don't believe anyone who would tell you otherwise. But remember that you don't need to dress in a certain way, or act in a certain manner. You are you, and you are wonderful. God loves you for you, and if people refuse to love you for you, it is emphatically their loss. True beauty comes not from the approval of society or from flaunting an attractive appearance; true beauty come from an obedient relationship to God. (1 Peter 3:3-4; Proverbs 31:10, 30) Peace!

Tasty Jams for Awesome Women

I thought I might kick off our new topic since I closed out our last one. The topic for the next week is five songs that remind us of women because music can kick off all kinds of emotions and memories and that is one amazing thing about it. I'll be using code names to protect the identities of the women  Anyway, I'll provide YouTube videos so you can listen to the songs. These aren't in any particular order except for number one. Number one is pure majesty. Without further ado, here's my list!

5. Jungle Love by The Steve Miller Band - Ripe Banana

The first of the women is Ripe Banana. I call her that because of humorous experience I've had with her. It's not the lyrical meaning or content that reminds me of her. It's how easy it is to fit her name into the song.  I think someone had to point this out to me.

4. Layla by Derek and the Dominos - First Born

This code name is rather obvious if you know us. I couldn't think of anything else. Whatever. It's kind of long story as to why this reminds me of her. If you know me, come ask me about it. I may or may not tell you. If you don't, perhaps I can talk about it a future blog post. (cough cough foreshadowing cough cough)

3. Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) by Journey - Night Moves

If you know anything about my "relationship" with Night Moves (if you can figure out who that is), this song is a pretty humorous choice. The amount of times we've "broken up" is uncanny and hilarious. However, whenever we "break up,: I feel kinda empty. Not in a depressing way. More like, I really miss having you around kind of way. Even if it's not a real relationship or break up, it feels like on at times. So it makes me sad whenever we go our separate ways.
Whoa. That got deeper then I meant it to.   Anyway, the video is supremely 80's and in a good way. And I gave her the code name Night Moves after another song that reminds me of her.

2. If You Could Read My Mind by Gordon Lightfoot - Golden Sun

I've nicknamed this particular women Golden Sun as a reflection of her personality. She is quirky and spontaneous and I enjoy that. She can always bring a smile to face whether she's trying to or not. Awhile ago, I was challenged to a 1 to 10 where I would have to serenade five different women. One of the women was Golden Sun, and I would have to sing her this song. I started listening to the song and throughly enjoyed it, but I think of her whenever I hear it now.

And finally one number is...

1. Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin - Majestic Rainbow

Whole Lotta Love is (in my opinion) the greatest love song to be recorded. If I had to sing my future wife one love song, it would be this. So why not give the perfect women the perfect song? For those of you who have heard of Majestic Rainbow, you'll know my not so secret admiration for her. For those of you who don't who Majestic Rainbow is, imagine the most beautiful sight on Earth. Now multiply the beauty threefold. Now multiply the threefold beauty ten times. That beauty is not even half as beautiful as Majestic Rainbow. Majestic Rainbow has such pristine and serine beauty that the only song that can describe is Whole Lotta Love.  But in the end, she is Majestic Rainbow, an eternal and awesome beauty. Anyway, Majestic Rainbow. Perfect women, perfect song. Yeah...
Oh! The second video is a live version because I think it's even better live.

Initially, when SmoothJazz proposed the animal crossover idea, my mind thought of the Pegapion, a mythical beast with the flight of a pegasus and the poisonous tail of a scorpion. The Pegapion (that’s right, it’s CAPITALIZED) was used for many battles, both mythical and real. Take for instance the Battle of Wallallahuakbar. This was a mythical battle that took place sometime around the birth of Jesus according to the tribe of Gillahad. They told tales of warriors draped in brown fighting off incoming invaders from. And guess what they rode? The Pegapion! The warriors draped in brown won because nothing can beat the Pegapion, and the invaders were overcome by it’s sheer and raw power.
However, unlike the birth of Jesus, that’s a myth. Even some Gillahadsmen have stated it never happened. But the Pegapion has been used in other historical battles! I’m sure you’ve heard of the Battle of Gettysburg, but did you know the only reason the North won was because Union Major General George Meade led his troops on top of a Pegapion? Robert E. Lee had no idea what to do and soon had to withdraw because not even as manliest man like Robert E. Lee can defeat the Pegapion! It is just that awesome!
The Pegapion has also been referenced in pop culture. Did you know that the Lord of the Rings trilogy was supposed to be four books? The fourth book would’ve occurred after the Fellowship left Rivendale. The first book would end there and would pick up with the fourth (or rather second) book called Lord of the Rings: The Battle of Evermore. In The Battle of Evermore the Fellowship would come across a massive army of orcs led by the Ringwraiths who rode in black after escaping the Mines of Moria. However, Boromir proves he’s not useless and summons Pegapions and the win the battle by riding Pegapions. However, Tolkien’s publisher wanted Boromir to stay useless, so he cut The Battle of Evermore and just had the Fellowship meet Galadriel instead. He combined it all into one book as well.
One more thing to know. The government has kept Pegapions secret until now. I JUST LET THE SECRET OUT! HAHAHAHA GOVERNMENT! *self high five*

Freshly yours,

THE NARNIX

Legendary Love-Child of the Mythical Phoenix and the Majestic Narwhal

The Narnix, or Igniscornu Volanceti is the most majestic genetic masterpiece. It is a practically a flying whale with an eight foot horn coming out of its head which is constantly on fire. It lives off of a variety of foods. It can eat crustaceans or baby seals, sharks or swimsuit models, eagles or unlicensed pilots, sharks or hippies, etc. It is the Furious Pete of Flying Aquatic Mammals; meaning, it will eat just about anything. I mean this thing is more majestic than Puff the Magic Dragon, Falcor, Moby Dick, and Dragonair put together. I feel like explaining the majestic mastery of the Narnix is just ridiculous, because the Narnix speaks for itself. You can't hate the Narnix.

Narnix sightings are rare and few; meaning, I am lucky to know what this bad boy looks like. Recorded sightings are as follows:

  • Ireland, 1849. Drunken potato farmers claimed that a Narnix drank all of the potato vodka and proceeded to burn down The Lopsided Lighthouse Inn and Tavern in Adare town in Limerick county on October 16th.

  • New York, 1969. In Bethel, New York on Max Yasgur's 600 acre dairy farm in the Catskills near the hamlet of White Lake in Sullivan County on the fateful night of August 17, 1969 at midnight, the crowds attending a certain festival at the farm claim to have witnessed a Narnix fly in from the heavens and jam with Jimi Hendrix in the greatest performance of "All Along the Watchtower" known to man.

  • Budapest, 1982. Details are sketchy. Long story short, ferderal agents claim to have been attacked by a Narnix, E.T. , and the ghost of Harriet Tubman. There were no survivors to confirm the incident.

  • New Orleans, 2006. It was a late night. Me and a couple of my chums were spending a night on the town. We had a couple of drinks and we decided to go to an underground party. The music was good and the ladies were fun, but then, at 7:06 on the 6th of June, a Narnix appeared from a fissure in the ground which rent the ground beneath Helen Hunt who proceeded to fall off of the face of the earth. Then, the Narnix impaled some guy named Gary and burned the house down. True Story.

As you can see, Narnix is real! And he is awesome! To give you a better knowledge of what the legendary Narnix looks like, I created a rough image of what he looks like.

NAILED IT.

TRUE STORY.

THAT'S ALL FOR ME.

Topic One: Project Hypothetical Hybrid

So, this is my contribution to this session's topic, which, hopefully, will become apparent to you expediently. After all, I don't feel like bluntly telling you the topic. So, yes, here we go.
Pegashark. That's right, I said "Pegashark". Can you think of a hybrid more spectacular? The actual terror of the seas combined with the mythical maned equestrian of the ethereal air, the perfect collaboration of grace and danger, what could be more splendid? NOTHING. It would have the legs and wings of a Pegasus, but the body, head, and tail will be of the shark variety. This creature, if it were to exist in reality, would have the ability (in my mind) to traverse open plains, navigate all manner of waters, and maneuver in the atmosphere. How cool is that?! Having such diverse means of locomotion, in addition to a killer set of jaws, this beast would feed on all manner of life on earth, except me, its loving master. I would name this beast- apart from the general name "Pegashark"- Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald and I will go places, many places, and we will open a restaurant together. Come by sometime. Just be careful around Fitzgerald; he has the temper of a hippogriff. Shout out to Buckbeak! Anyways, that is the essence of my contribution. I hope you appreciate it. If you don't, you should probably get that checked out.
Superbly,
SmoothJazz
